TWO LOCAL PLAYERS INVITED TO SOLAR BEARS TRAINING CAMP

Levens and Panzo Selected to Attend Training CampOrlando, FL – The Orlando Solar Bears announced today that two players, forward Matthew Panzo (Eustis, FL) and defenseman Edward Levens (Clermont, FL) were selected from a group of 36 players who participated in last week’s open tryouts to compete at Solar Bears Training Camp. Panzo and Levens will be introduced to the media after the announcement of a partnership between the Orlando Solar Bears and the RDV Sportsplex Ice Den tonight (Tuesday, September 4th) at the RDV Sportsplex at 7:00 p.m.Panzo (5’10”, 170 lbs.) was born and raised in Eustis, Florida, before heading up to Ontario as an eighth-grader to gain more hockey experience. The move paid off, as Panzo worked his way on to the roster of Gilmour Academy, a prep school in Cleveland, OH. During the 2011-12 season, the 20-year-old forward played for the Tampa Bay Juniors, notching eight goals and nine assists for 17 points in 28 games. He was tied for second on the team...

UF hockey: Gators Sweep USF

Friday night came with anticipation; USF has had the upper hand in the UF/USF series for the past couple seasons, but this Gator team looked to change that precedent. The puck dropped in Orlando and the Gators took no time at all to get the game underway. 4 minutes into the game, Michael Jugan buried a power play goal to put the Gators up 1-0 early. By the end of  the period the Gators had built up a solid 4-0 lead. The second period was no different; the Gators charged ahead to a 9-2 lead on goals by Michael Jugan, Scott Schilson, Michael Dutka and Matt Girello. The third period showed a bit of slack in the Gator attack as USF slimmed the gap, but the end result was a huge 11-7 Gator hockey win. The first line of Dutka-Schilson-Jugan proved dominant once again, finishing with 6-7-5 points respectively; each with a hat-trick. Hockey great Bobby Orr has memoir coming in Oct

NEW YORK (AP) -- One of hockey's greatest and most private stars, Bobby Orr, is finally telling his life story.''Orr: My Story'' will be released in October by G.P. Putnam's Sons. The former Boston Bruins defenseman and three-time Hart Trophy winner as the National Hockey League's most valuable player is promising to share some experiences he believes ''worth putting down on paper.''According to Tuesday's announcement by Putnam, Orr will reflect on his remarkable career and on his angry break from his former agent and close friend Alan Eagleson. Orr was in dire financial trouble after retiring and was among those who demanded Eagleson be removed from the NHL's Hall of Fame after he was jailed for fraud. Eagleson resigned in 1998.The 64-year-old Orr was elected into the Hall in 1979.
