Clearwater Beach

Clearwater Beach, FloridaOnly 26 miles from our Quality Inn & Suites hotel of New Port Richey is one of the world’s premier beaches. Clearwater Beach is a subtropical tourist destination featuring 2.5 miles of pristine white sands and offering up some of the best swimming and sunbathing that Florida’s Gulf Coast has to offer. With long piers stretching out into the ocean, you can admire the surf from above or go saltwater fishing while watching thousands of vacationers and locals alike enjoying this scenic setting.

Although swimming is the primary draw for Clearwater Beach, there are actually a myriad of activities that one can partake in. Parasailing and jet ski rental are available at the beach as are boat tours and even themed tours such as a pirate cruise and a dolphin sighting tour. Miniature golf and fishing charters are also available. If you prefer to wander without any plans, you may find yourself delighted by the many street performers, artists and entertainers who gather along Pier 60, Mandalay Avenue and Gulfview Boulevard located along the main beach. Shopping and dining are also popular activities along the beach.

Although many of the beaches just south of Tampa are prime locations for collecting shells and shark teeth, Clearwater still provides the occasional trinket. Along the North end of Clearwater Beach, shells become more plentiful. If you are keen to take home souvenirs and are not lucky enough to find any shells or shark teeth yourself, the many beachside shops feature a variety of knick-knacks to choose from.

Just a short drive from the beach is the Clearwater Marine Aquarium where you can visit some of the native wildlife including Winter the dolphin who has starred in several movies and television shows. To check admission prices to the aquarium, please visit their website. Although access to Clearwater Beach is free, parking is a flat fee of $5.
