Big House Sports Complex

1544 Lane Park Cutoff, Tavares, Florida

The Big House Sports Complex lives up to its name and then some.  This 162,000 foot monster encompasses everything from basketball courts, to volleyball, to an indoor infield.  Located in Tavares, just minutes from our Hampton hotel, the Big House Complex provides a state-of-the-art sports facility to rival any in Florida.

This facility is a dream come true for former major league baseball player Chet Lemon and his wife Gigi, who have long been involved in youth sports and wanted a local facility that could offer young athletes the opportunity to hone their skills and compete in a professional setting.  Over $6 million later, the Big House has finally opened its doors and is welcoming eager teams and tournament directors to come on in.

The first sporting event to be held at the complex was a volleyball game in mid-January of 2013, however, the Big House is in talks with Nike to bring some of their youth championships to the venue as well as making the venue a state qualifier location for many AAU (Amateur Athletic Union)sports.  Additionally, the Big House will host sports camps that bring in athletes from around the globe.

The Big House building was constructed with leagues, tournaments, and invitationals in mind and boasts 16 volleyball courts, 9 basketball courts, 14 outdoor beach volleyball courts, 12 batting cages, a ¼ mile track, a major league-sized infield, and planned outdoor football, soccer, and lacrosse fields.

In addition to player facilities, the Big House offers a gym and training facility, a salon & barber shop, a daycare facility, on-site meeting room space, a theatre that can seat 100, a pro shop, staff offices, classrooms, a webcasting room, an executive lounge, food court, game room, teaching kitchen, and 7 suites.  Suites are luxury boxes that are furnished and look out onto the main courts with TVs that allow viewing of other courts within the Big House.  Chet Lemon’s Smoothie and Juice bars will offer refreshments throughout the facility and even offer delivery to the luxury boxes.

This facility promises to greatly impact Lake County.  With continuing education programs planned, as well as co-op events to be held with local organizations, the Big House will enrich the community both financially and culturally.  Gigi Lemon suggested that the facility will be open to local trade shows and expos as well as rental for events such as conferences or camps.  To view the facility’s calendar of events as well as to learn more about the Big house, please visit their website by clicking here.
